Según criterio del diario británico The Guardian.

Un tipo llamado Tom Reynolds, que no tenía nada mejor que hacer, ha elaborado una lista con las que a su juicio son las 25 canciones más deprimentes de la historia. Lo cual no significa que sean malas canciones, ni mucho menos.

Entre ellas están The river de Bruce Springsteen, All by myself de Celine Dion o Prayers for Rain de The Cure.

De esta última Reynolds dice:

«Estas son algunas de las palabras encontradas en la letra de Prayers for Rain: estrellarse, débil, matar, sofoco, infeccioso, desesperación, lluvia, asfixiado, suciedad, ningún sitio, desolado, monótono, asesinar, fractura, rancio, estrangular, enredar, deteriorar, melancólico, cansado. Añada algunos pronombres y conjunciones y tendrá la canción entera.

Pues a pesar de eso -o quizás precisamente por eso- a mí me siguen gustando The Cure.
